HERSTORY
WOMEN'S
SYMPOSIUM
HerStory Women’s Symposium, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that started in 2012. We empower women to speak their truth and tell their stories of victimization to victory and pain to power by providing a safe and judgement free space. We believe storytelling is both therapeutic and necessary for resilience.
Our organization offers workshops, conferences and specialized training to address issues of healing and hope. We also serve as a victim service agency through HerStory Resilience Training Center (HRTC). We believe if women are given an opportunity and adequate resources, they'll be better equipped to transform their lives. Therefore, our goal is to inspire, encourage, and empower women to live their best life through the artform of storytelling and training.
Bridget Goines
VISIONARY + FOUNDER
Bridget Goines is the visionary, founder, and CEO of HerStory Women’s Symposium. She started this organization in September of 2012. HerStory Women’s Symposium was birthed out of several years of counseling experience Bridget had with individuals, couples, and families. What she discovered was that for many of them, their breakthrough and healing were connected to them telling their own story. As she listened to their stories and witnessed them having their "aha moments", it was like watching the metamorphosis of a caterpillar transforming into a radiant butterfly before your very eyes.
Bridget has been given a mandate to empower women from every walk of life to tell their stories authentically, unashamedly, and unapologetically. She firmly believes that we overcome by the word our testimony; therefore, our stories serve as a tool of liberation and restoration when we speak our truth.
Bridget had the honor and privilege of serving as a Chaplain in the United States Navy. She served as a Youth Pastor and in 2011, she started Livin' It Up Ministries where she served as Senior Servant-Leader. She was also a Rehabilitation Vocational Counselor for several years and is currently a Navy CREDO Facilitator. She is listed as one of the contributors to the Women of Color Study Bible. This anointed woman of God is a mentor, motivational speaker, gifted teacher, and trainer.
Bridget has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Morgan State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Methodist University. She is married to Norman Garrett Gray, and they are the proud parents of Garrett Joshua Gray.
