Dr. Rosemary Cook was born in Richmond, Virginia. She holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Towson University, a Master’s degree in Clinical /Administrative Social Work from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University in Maryland. Dr. Cook has served as an affiliate professor of Pastoral Counseling at Loyola University and at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Dr. Cook is an Ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is an associate minister at Bethel AME Church in Baltimore under Rev. Dr. Patrick D. Clayborn. She is the Director of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Bethel. Her specialty area of ministry is healing and wholeness especially for those who have been affected by mental illness, abuse, oppression, and other forms of injustice. Her academic research focused on improving the spiritual, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of women of color.

 

Dr. Cook is CEO and founder of Totally Whole Pastoral Counseling Services, LLC a mental health group practice. Her organization provides psychotherapy, pastoral counseling, clinical supervision, and training on a variety of mental health topics the integration of spirituality and mental health. She serves as a consultant to behavioral health, faith-based organizations, and churches on a variety of topics integrating spirituality and mental health.

Dr. Cook was honored in 2001 as a Social Worker of the decade by the University of Maryland for her contributions to the profession. Dr. Cook is a preacher, teacher, seminar leader, retreat, and conference facilitator.
